Accreditation in Action

As we wrap up Winter 2023 Site Visits, we’re getting prepared for Fall 2023! For those of you in the fall cycle, keep an eye out for your 90-day notification letter hitting your inboxes today!

March Board Meeting Decisions

At our March 24 Board meeting, the board will review data from the partially remote site visits and the new vs. standard HDSAI options. We deeply appreciate the patience and feedback that our Fall 2022 and Winter 2023 site visits have provided us as the board decides how to move in the future. We will be sending out a specific update following the meeting to share decisions of the board with the AAC community.

Office Hour Break – Change in Schedule

Given New AAC Training and Dashboard Webinar happening in April, followed by the regional AAC workshops in May, our team will be taking a break from office hours in April and May in order to be more present at these events. We hope to see you at our April trainings and May workshops in place of office hours! As always, you can reach us at NCLHDaccreditation@unc.edu to address your questions. For office hours specifically, stop by today or sign up early for our June 7 office hours!

We can’t tell you how much we enjoy connecting with AACs across the state during office hours, and we are excited to continue offering this platform for you all during months when we are not coordinating larger training events.

Equity Related Resources

As we communicate accreditation updates through monthly highlights, we also have an opportunity to share existing resources that can help support equity related accreditation activities, including accessible training opportunities. Please email us if you have resources you would like to share in this space!

Collaboration and Orientation Highlights from Fall 2022 Site Visits

The Site Visit Team identified many Best Practices in Fall 2022. Over the next few months, we’ll be highlighting some of these best practices in advance of the annual Best Practices report that comes out at the end of each fiscal year. This month, we’re sharing some highlights from Chatham County:

Highlight 1, Activity 12.1: The Site Visit Team commended Chatham County Public Health Department’s active participation with multiple organizations to identify strategies for addressing community health problems, as well as demonstrating the department`s active participation in the collaborative process.

Highlight 2, Activity 15.5: The Site Visit Team identified Chatham County Public Health Department’s orientation form as an excellent tool for facilitating and documenting orientation requirements. The Site Visit Team identified the practice of requiring all new staff to attend a board of health meeting as part of the new employee orientation as a best practice.
