As of this morning, we’re back from our summer break and excited to welcome you all to office hours! If you’re new to this space, office hours are an informal space where accreditation team members can ask program staff questions in small group formats.

Fall Site Visit Season is Here!
Fall site visits will be conducted between August 28 and October 16 this season. Now is a great time to support neighboring agencies going through accreditation this cycle with words of encouragement and maybe even a mock site visit to ease the stress!

Sign up now for our Accreditation 101: New AAC Training on September 10 from 1 – 5 pm followed by the NCLHDA Dashboard Webinar on September 12 from 1 – 3 pm. Both trainings will be held virtually. As a reminder, the New AAC Training is a pre-requisite to the Dashboard Webinar.

Health Literacy: Why Does It Matter? August 13, noon-1 p.m.
This free online webinar offered by the Mid-Atlantic Regional Public Health Training Center will delve into health literacy, as it’s a stronger predictor of a person’s health than age, income, employment status, education level, or race. Participants will be able to 1) define health literacy 2) identify several populations who are at risk for low health literacy and 3) list several strategies for ensuring patient/client understanding. Continuing Education credit (one hour) is available for public health professionals. Participants must attend from the beginning till the end and complete an evaluation.

Best Practices from Fall 2023: Governance Standard
Within the Governance standard (Benchmarks 34-41) our site visit team identified many best practices to highlight in Fall 2023. Today, we’re highlighting one great example:
Activity 34.4, Lenoir County: The Site Visit Team identified as a best practice the additional use of email correspondence between the health director and board members to ensure board approval before taking action.
