2019-2020 NCLHD Accreditation Annual Report

Message from the Accreditation Administrator

Amy Belflower Thomas, MHA, MSPH, CPH

It has been quite a year, from the statewide roll out of the online dashboard for evidence submission and review to the twelve-month accreditation extension due to COVID-19, we have navigated through some unprecedented changes. As we reflect on the year, it is important to acknowledge both the personal and professional changes that we all have experienced. The North Carolina public health system is based on quality public health services provided in local health departments across the state. This year’s annual report highlights not just what has been accomplished by the program over the past year, but more importantly, highlights the work of individuals who are working not just in their communities, but who are also supporting large-scale quality improvement efforts for the North Carolina Accreditation Program. We hope that you enjoy the report.

2019-2020 Best Practices Annual Report Supplement

Each year, we compile and share examples of best practices that have been identified by Site Visitors during site visits. We know there are many innovative strategies being implemented across the state. If you are aware of examples of best practices, either in your health department or in other health departments, please email us at NCLHDaccreditation@unc.edu. We will share these examples through Stories from the Field in our monthly highlights.

We encourage you to read the best practices compiled for this year’s report to reach out to the AACs listed if you have any questions.

Many thanks to the AACs who worked with us to share their stories in the supplement.
